Happy birthday to us

Today we celebrate one year in business. . what a year it has been.

A lot has happened in the last 12 months for us.

Norahs Treasures started when Norah was 3 months old. My husband Tyson, and I spend a week in Noosa QLD, getting married, spending our wedding week with family and friends.

I've always been a bit of a greenie at heart so I wanted to create something that would align with something that I love and also make an impact on our earth.
Honestly, I needed something to do while I was at home with Norah.. I know that sounds crazy, I get told all the time I am nuts. Since I got my first salon job when I was 16, I have put my work first and have worked really hard. Opening my first salon when I was 18, I knew I needed to work hard to make it successful.

You could call me a workaholic.

Working ridiculous hours in my hair business to then having a baby had forced to take a step back and be at home, it was a really hard adjustment.
I did go into work when Norah was 8 days old to do my weekly granny sets.. what even is maternity leave?

Being at home made me very restless, I needed something to do!

So I decided to start another business, something that was not too demanding and doable from home.

Around this time, Tyson and I were wanting to try for another baby, having them nice and close in age.
Shortly after, we fell pregnant and boy! did I know I was pregnant.

Horrendous morning sickness for almost 5 months, starting at week one. Consistently at the doctors, trying to look after an infant, running now two businesses, working in my hair business, trying to put a happy face on while with clients, trying to be a good house wife.. safe to say the house was like a bomb hit for a long time, it was only respectable when my cleaner would come every fortnight.. Thank you Bernie! the cleaning fairy.

We have been on a few really great family holidays around Australia, Norah had been to three different states before she was even one! lucky gal.

Plans for our new 'forever home' have started, planning on starting the build this year sometime.

Norah turned one! That year went so darn quick, I couldn't believe all the things that had happened in her first year of life. And what a great year that was.

Then on May 11th, I was working my last day at the salon, being kind to myself this pregnancy by giving myself a little rest before baby 2.0 was due.
The day before I was having some cramps that felt like period pains, I knew it was my cervix doing it's thing and preparing for when I have the new baby. These pains became quite regular, every hour pretty much to the minute.

I secretly knew it was early labour, although I was in denial and wanted to finish work!

So I woke up the next morning ready to finish my last day and the cramps were about every 20 minutes at this stage.. I totally knew what was happening.
Yet I still got up, showered and got on with it.

Mid morning the cramps were every 10 minutes and taking my breath away.. 3 more hours and i'm done! I can do this.

My apprentice told me to go home because I was probably in labour, I said 'nah i'll be right!'

I was just about to start my last cut and blow dry for the day and I called the hospital to let them know I was going to come in after work to check to see if it actually was labour, they told me to come in now.. which meant I wasn't able to finish my last client..

Classic Ashlee.

I spent all of mothers day labouring at home, until it was time to go into hospital.

At 12:12am on 13th May, Delilah was born. What a pleasant experience that was compared to Norahs birth.

Since Delilah was born, i'm not going to lie, it's been an emotional rollercoaster.
I've struggled with the fact that I don't have as much time on my hands than what i did when there was only one child, it's a mission to leave the house on time with two children and you just feel very disorganised all the time.
This is something that i've always been good at and it's hit me with a tonne of bricks.

All the ups and downs, I wouldn't have it any other way!
I love my life and everything that is going on in it.

Thank you everyone for all your support.

To my family, to my friends, to our customers and to everyone in general!

Happy birthday to us xx
